Craig Ward - A very inspirational typographer

Brief 3 - Billboard Poster

My research sheets

My First Billboard ad inspired by MOD's.

My Final Billboar ad inspired by the Psychedlic 60's and the illustrator Alberto Seveso.

Brief 4 - Logo's

My Final Logo designs

Brief 5 - Manifesto

Our final project was to create our very own manifesto to describe our work and myself as a designer.

Development of my ideas

3 Designs

My final Manifesto

I chose the very fitted 3 word phrase of 'Just wing it' a clever take on the Nike slogan -  Just do it!
It also sums up my attitude to life and work in certain situations, the image in the centre is of an eye of god nebula to represent my faith and ambition.

Logos

Our latest project has surrounded logos, heres a test to see how much you know your logos.
Even without the name of the brand or company you should still be able to recognise these. (unless you're not from planet earth or have been living under a rock for years). Logos are everywhere you just have to look out for them .

Music

Following on from my last post I thought I would add some music and a trailer of a favourite film of mine.

Firstly I must talk about my cousin's brand new album and tour, they played Uncle Tom's Cabin back home in Blackpool last week, I unfortunately couldn't attend however my dad sent me a photo of my cousin (Jeremy Richards) and the link to their write up in our local paper (both below).

Here are some of the bands past album's, I love their artwork and feel that they are relevant to my last post about psychedelic artwork.

Their new album - Hawklords 'We are one' is available at HMV now just click on the link below to view.

I forgot to post this on my last blog so that I would add it to this one as it is still relevant. Here is the trailer to one of my favourtie films - The magical mystery tour by The Beatles. Look out for the part where John is feeding a fat women spaghetti with a shovel, makes me smile everytime.

Psychedelic Love

One of our first lectures this month was on psychedelia and the inspirational era from posters to music. Another early lecture I though then the music of The Byrds came on and immediately woke me up (link below) along with the film' Dancing in the street - eight miles high' made it one of the best lectures i've ever been in. (very much worth a watch, it can be found in the university library)

Inspirational photo's

Love this photo (above) so much that it is now proud of place as the background on my phone and laptop.

One of my icon's from the 60's

I personally love the 60's and 70's and sometimes feel I was born in the wrong time, I grew up with all my brother's scooters in the garage and his parka hung up on his bedroom door full of badges. I remember sneeking into his room to listen to all his music on his record player. We both got our taste in music from my dad and his hippy past, I even stole a few of his clothes too from headbands to belts although his posters in the pictures below are still tucked away somewhere very safe in the loft.

(above) Check out his hand-patched jeans he brags about making himself everytime this photo is seen.

His posters and what they looked like in his cabin at night with his UV light strip he fitted himself.

My mother in the late 60's done up to the nines, this is how she looked everyday.
